  • March 26, 2003: SPEARMINT/EPG added to our tools page. SPEARMINT™, from Fraunhofer IESE, is a graphical modelling tool for describing software development processes. Release 7.1 of SPEARMINT™ is now available. For more details check the SPEARMINT™ page or our tools page.
  • March 25, 2003:  Workshop: "What we have learned about Agile Methods": In order to signify closure of the series of eWorkshops in Agile Methods, Dr. Forrest Shull (CeBASE and Fraunhofer Center Maryland) and Dr. Laurie Williams (North Carolina State University) will host a face-to-face meeting at the Agile Development Conference that will be held in Salt Lake City, UT from June 25 to June 28, 2003. Using some of the heuristics that resulted from the eWorkshops as a starting point, participants will have the opportunity to contribute their own experiences to refine or expand the list of heuristics.

  • January 29, 2003: New version of Hackystat released by CeBASE collaborator Philip Johnson! The new version has a new architecture more suited for extension and a new user interface.   • December 4, 2002: CFP: International Symposium on Software Engineering (ISESE 2003). The objective of the symposium is to foster the development of empirical research in software engineering by providing a forum where researchers and practitioners can report on and discuss new research results. ISESE 2003 is part of, and co-located with ESEIW2003 - Empirical Software Engineering International Week. Submission deadline is Saturday, March 29, 2003. For more details, click here.

  • October 10, 2002: The paper Replicating Software Engineering Experiments: Addressing the Tacit Knowledge Problem by members of the CeBASE team won the best paper award at the Fisrt International Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering in Nara, Japan.

  • June 7, 2002: CeBASE sponsored a workshop on "What We Know about Fighting Defects," to generate a list of heuristics on software defect reduction that reflect what practitioners, researchers, and consultants feel to be the current state of knowledge in this area. A summary of the resulting discussion is available HERE .

  • May 7, 2002: The results of the First eWorkshop on Agile Methods are now available. The eWorkshop used the same concepts and tools developed for CeBASE.
