eWorkshop on Software Inspections and Pair Programming

CeBASE and Visek conducted an eWorkshop to discuss pair programming and software inspections on December 16, 2003. Looking at these practices, at a first glance, they seem to have the same common aim of collaboration among developers/reviewers to develop quality software with minimal defects. But one takes place during developing software and the other in reviewing already existing software products. It was discussed in the eWorkshop: 1) commonalities/differences and relative strengths/weaknesses of these practices,  2) under what conditions you might prefer one or the other, and 3) under what conditions you might merge the two practices and to what gain. We were happy to have an input of a very lively set of over 20 participants from 5 different countries and in 6 different time zones. The event was attended by many experts including Laurie Williams, Victor Basili, Barry Boehm and Dieter Rombach. As usual the discussion was very interesting click here to see the results of that discussion. Please click here to check the log of the discussion.
