Software Reading Experiments

Experience Repository

Please note that access to this repository is restricted to CeBASE collaborators. Collaborators are individuals who also wish to use CeBASE materials and report back their experiences. When you click in one of the links below, you will be asked a username and a password.
  • If you are already a CeBASE collaborator and haven't requested a username and password, please click here to send us a message.
  • If you are not a CeBASE collaborator and wish to become one, please fill out a collaboration form ( PDF version of form).  You should print form and send or fax the completed form to either Dr. Barry Boehm at USC or Dr. Victor Basili at the University of Maryland. Use the contact information on the form.

This repository organizes the materials and results from studies of software reading techniques for software inspections. Results from across several different studies have been put into a common format for easier cross-study analysis.

There are three views into the repository:

  • Experiment View - is organized so that each entry corresponds to one study that was run on reading techniques. The studies are described using a set of meta-data. Once a particular study has been selected, the study design, materials, and results are accessible.
  • Problem Domain View - is organized according to the different systems to which reading techniques have been applied. The systems are described using a set of meta-data, and some sets of reusable artifacts are available for download. Once a system has been selected, links to the studies in which it was used are accessible so that researchers can have a set of baseline data for future experiments.
  • Thematic Area View (Coming soon) - presents only the latest materials and results for particular themes (e.g. on specific families of reading techniques).

Please come back soon! This page is still under construction and new items will be added soon!
